We are headquartered in Fairfax, VA and serve a large portion of the DMV area including all of Fairfax & Arlington Counties and Alexandria, plus the southwestern side of Loudoun County and the lower portion of Montgomery County MD (below the 270 spur). Due to the recent increase in party requests, we have cut our service area down a bit so our referees can spend less time driving and more time Nerfing! Mobile Battles is great for young kids and adults! Depending on a player's experience level operating Nerf blasters, kids younger than 7 years old might find the blasters hard to operate and get frustrated. We do bring smaller blasters for younger kids (Nerf Elite Aces and Volts) because we realize younger siblings are often at our parties and want to join in the fun! In fact, older kids often prefer the smaller blasters anyway because they're very accurate, shoot far and are easy to reload quickly. And yes we do have a 10-guest minimum for all parties to maximize the variety of games we can play and ensure the games are fair and evenly balanced! Additionally, based on years of referee and customer feedback, we recommend our longest Sergeant package for kids ages 8 and older since younger players tend to lose interest, despite our referees' best efforts to keep everyone engaged in the battles, and they often have a harder time operating all our blasters.

Most of our customers book 4-8 weeks out, and historically spring & fall weekends are the busiest time of year so the earlier you request a date the better! Generally, the sooner you contact us, the more likely you'll be able to schedule the date & time you prefer. We sometimes have last-minute availability on weekends, so it never hurts to ask! Weeknights are also good options in summer with cooler temps and later sunsets - and we often get booked on school holidays and during spring break too! Most of our events are in back yards (front and side yards work too!) but some families also have their parties at local neighborhood, city or county parks. Indoor venues are fine as well as long as we have a space about the size of 1/2 basketball court (roughly 40ft x 50ft). Mobile Battles does not assist with securing a venue or making reservations for your venue, but we can provide necessary paperwork. Keep in mind, some larger parks require permits and/or charge fees to use public spaces or pavilions. For venues that require reservations, we recommend booking well in advance to secure those reservations as well as ensure our availability. Our Service Area map pinpoints many parks, community centers, indoor venues, churches etc. where we've set up parties in the past so that may be helpful!

Yes! The best places to book an indoor Mobile Battles event are local community centers, school gyms, or other public/private facilities with large indoor rental spaces such as gymnasiums or multipurpose rooms. Ideally we need a space about the size of a basketball court, or at least a half court. Mobile Battles does not book the venue however, so you may want to check our availability first and then find a suitable indoor space. We do not run indoor events inside private homes and/or basements. Our Service Area map pinpoints many community centers, indoor venues, churches etc. where we've set up parties in the past so that may be helpful!

This covers the costs of preparation such as securing referees and supplies needed before the event as well as the inconvenience costs of cancellations for any reason (i.e. bad weather, sick child, guests cancel, location becomes unavailable etc...) although we always try to reschedule in those situations. Also, as soon as you pay the down payment, your requested event date & time are reserved and we turn down other requests. The $75 down payment is applied to the final balance due at the end of the event.

Absolutely! Mobile Battles is open year round for any occasion! Since spring and fall weekends are busiest, it's usually easier to book winter (and summer) dates. As long as the weather is cooperating, there shouldn't be a problem hosting an event. Kids love our winter parties and don't mind the cold! Winter is a good time to consider indoor venues like community centers, gymnasiums, or other rental faculties, although we still do most of our parties outdoors.

We recommend an open space, free of obstacles, measuring at least 40ft x 50ft. That's roughly the size of a 1/2 basketball court. The battlefield also needs to be mostly level so running around is easy and safe, and so our barriers stand up easily. If your back yard isn't big enough, side and front yards work well too! And sometimes neighborhoods have open grassy spaces under power lines or above gas lines. We can set up there too!

Yes, we bring everything you need for your Nerf battles! We bring blasters of all sizes, bunkers, safety goggles for everyone, pinnies to separate red and blue teams plus our referees run all the games.

The best package depends on your group's ages, number of players, event length and budget. The Cadet is an hour of nonstop Nerf battles and it's perfect for parents on a budget or for parties with other activities planned for your guests. We frequently customize the Cadet package for large group events, where lots of players can rotate through rounds, making it a great fit for schools, camps, scouting groups, and team celebrations. A good mid-tier option is the Corporal which includes all the fun Nerf battles plus additional mini-games like tug-o-war and dodgeball. Our referees can also use a dodgeball for a quick soccer game and we bring a Nerf football as well if that sounds fun. The Corporal also includes a Mobile Battles T-shirt. If you want the ultra Nerf package, choose the Sergeant for a little bit of everything: Nerf battles, mini games, an obstacle course, t-shirt and even goodie bags! No problem! We regularly offer summer camp entertainment, scout and other organization events, and large community gatherings, such as Mother's Day/Father's Day neighborhood parties. We've provided family-friendly entertainment at community religious celebrations and local sporting events. Our event format can be adapted to accommodate larger groups and specific event objectives - let us know what you have in mind!

Parents are absolutely free to enjoy some well-deserved downtime as our referees run the event from start to finish. You can leave or sit back, relax and watch the games! Also, we offer a no-charge "parents vs "kids match if you want to join the fun...and remind the kids who's paying for the party! Kids and adults can play together, for a summer family party or family reunion event. Also, we've run Mother's and Father's Day events for neighborhoods and swim team events as well where kids and parents play together. Adults are more than welcome to join the fun! We've hosted some team building events and "young at heart" birthdays.

No. We understand Nerf battles aren't for everyone - although our referees purposefully try to make the games fun for all players and will change up the teams during your event to keep the competition fun and fair. If a player tries a battle once and decides not to play anymore, there is no charge. However if a player jumps in and out of multiple battles during your event, we do consider that person a "Player" and s/he counts towards your total headcount. (Parents can play kids vs parents round for free!) Keep in mind, we do have a 10-player minimum charge, regardless of whether everyone plays or not.

Yes they can, however we do not encourage bringing personal guns because they sometimes get left behind in our equipment and one team may have an unfair advantage over another. We purposefully bring a large arsenal of blasters so each team has access to the same types of guns. If players do bring their own blasters, they need to be labeled so there is no confusion about ownership during or after the party. Additionally, we do not supply ammo other than standard Nerf darts, so some blasters that use different/smaller darts are not allowed. Also, only blasters are allowed at our events - no accessory Nerf brand weapons. Referees can decide not to allow the blasters if it gives one team a significant advantage over the other or causes a contentious atmosphere - we want the battles to be competitive but fair, and mostly we want all the players to have fun! Also, Mobile Battles is not responsible for damage to or loss of a player's personal blaster.

Our weather decisions are made with safety, field conditions, and equipment protection in mind. Because our equipment is not waterproof, rain can sometimes make an event impossible to run or may affect events scheduled later that day. If rain is likely on your event day, we'll monitor the forecast and communicate with you before the event. In some cases, a brief passing, light shower may not affect gameplay, but heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, or saturated field conditions may require a delay (if our schedule allows), relocation to a suitable indoor venue, or rescheduling. If you decide to proceed with an event despite unfavorable weather forecasts and our recommendations, travel fees may still apply if referees arrive and determine the battlefield is unsuitable for play. Additionally, once battlefield setup takes place and the games begin, you will be charged for your event, even if game play has to stop for weather. If the rain interrupts your event during the first half of your reserved time, you will be charged 50% of the estimated total due. However if more than half of your reserved event time has passed, you will owe the full amount even if game play has to stop periodically or completely for weather. For birthday parties, parents usually only supply the food and drinks! We bring all the equipment needed for the Nerf battles including blasters, bullets, barriers, pinnies for red and blue teams, and goggles. You just provide a clear space to set up. If it's hot, it's very helpful to have drinks during breaks between games. And if parents want to stay and watch, it's fine to set up lawn chairs and cheer or take photos! For community events, we only need the space to set up! Again, it's helpful to have access to drinks/water fountain for the kids who need to rehydrate between games. We keep them very busy!
